Co-operation agreement between HGS and Cryostar to reduce CO2 emissions

Hyundai Global Service (HGS) and Cryostar will co-operate to provide a turnkey solution to retrofit LNG carriers and FSRU vessels with systems and equipment to reduce CO2 emissions. The solution includes installing sub-coolers called "EcoChill "and combining them with other key technologies such as Engine Power Limitation (EPL) or Shaft Power Limitation (Shapoli) packages and energy-saving devices.

The retrofit concept is to have a vessel operate at a low speed. However, the vessel treats more significant volumes of surplus boil-off gas. "EcoChill' sub-coolers cool down the fuel tank to reduce the gas and avoid unnecessary use of the GCU. The sub-coolers fit in without disturbing existing fuel gas supply systems and require minimal onboard interfaces.
